Graduate Admissions Project (GAP)

 

The intention of this project is to review and revamp, where appropriate, the entire Graduate Admissions process, from the first point of contact with the applicant to the day they arrive in Cambridge. To support this, a new online system will need to be developed.

Current Scope

The current scope covers a prospective applicant deciding to make an application, through to the Department and Degree Committee recording their decision. Activities this will cover include:

  • Gathering of electronic references
  • Submission of application form and supporting materials
  • Application reporting and decision recording for departments and degree committees

These activities will be rolled out in a number of phases.

Projected Future Scope

The projected future scope will cover the formal offer making process through to final confirmation of the offer. Activities this will cover include:

  • Formal offer making by Graduate Admissions Office
  • College membership allocation
  • Post-offer confirmation

Other Admissions Systems

Other bodies which make academic admissions (e.g. Undergraduate Admissions, Institute of Continuing Education, Medical School &c.) will be liaised with for separate projects under the Online Admissions Programme.
